1987 Porsche 911 Carrera

**THE GARY PROJECT 2023 PORSCHE RESTORATION CHALLENGE CAR** This machine truly does not compare to any other in the market, if you want the finest example available, this is it. We sold this vehicle to a great repeat customer of ours, Gary in 2017. He had just finished restoring a MG Midget but could not fit in the car. Once he saw this 911 at our dealership while he was in for service, and saw that he fit he had to have it. He sent it to be restored to a concourse level car however as the project continued, Gary became ill and unfortunately passed away. After speaking to his wife who just wanted the vehicle out of her possession as it was an emotionally draining reminder of her late husband, we purchased this 911 back from her. The first thing that came to mind was the 2023 Porsche Classic Restoration Challenge to complete Gary's dream of bringing this car to its original brilliance. We tried to keep the original interior but it was too far gone so we replaced all of the leather and padding for the seating in the car, as well as all of the carpeting in the vehicle. All of the switches and handles were replaced with new OEM Porsche parts including the shift knob as the originals were not able to be saved. The steering wheel stitching was re-done as well as the convertible top rivets by hand. Every belt, filter and fluid was changed out. The headlights were replaced as well as the rear reflector strip and rear pedestal brake light. The hood, rear engine cover and rear quarter panel were fully refinished in original Guards Red, along with a full paint correction done by our Porsche Approved Collision Center (PACC), Mohawk Collision Center. The logos were all replaced with period correct new badges. The front spoiler was replaced again using the period correct OEM Porsche parts as the original was missing pieces and could not be brought back. The spark plugs were replaced, the valves adjusted, and the air/fuel ratio was corrected using a 5 Gas Analyzer to return the vehicle to exact factory idle specifications. The aftermarket radio was then replaced with the Porsche Classic Radio which is made specifically for this generation 911 to give this machine a few of the modern amenities that today's drivers require on the road. This car is immaculate and ready to be enjoyed by an automotive enthusiast who sees the value in the extensive work that our team, and team of partners, put into this machine. We truly believe we have made Gary and his family proud with the work put into this beautiful 911 Carrera Cabriolet to bring it back to its original glory just like Gary had set out to do 6 years ago.
