2020 Lincoln Aviator Review

Sure, Lincoln has the supersized Navigator but they’ve never had an SUV quite like this. The all-new 2020 Aviator is a premium, 3-row midsized utility available with hybrid technology and designed around the concept of Quiet Flight, supporting Lincoln’s tenets of beauty, gliding, human and a crafted sanctuary. The standard Aviator is powered by a twin-turbo V6 producing 400 horsepower with gear changes directed by a 10-speed automatic in rear- or all-wheel drive configuration. And then there is the Aviator Grand Touring, adding plug-in hybrid technology that sends power numbers soaring to 450 horsepower and a massive 600 pound-feet of torque. Drive Modes consist of choices such as Excite and Slippery while Pure EV and Preserve EV are added for the Grand Touring model to manage electric usage. Right from the start, the Aviator’s suspension system automatically lowers the vehicle to “greet” the driver, adding to Lincoln’s signature welcome lighting. Owners can then use their smartphone as a key to access their Aviator including opening the liftgate and of course starting the vehicle – all without a traditional key. Also new to Lincoln is an available technology that enables the Aviator to “see” most potholes or uneven pavement and immediately make suspension adjustments to keep the ride as smooth as possible. Available Perfect Position seats with Active Motion offer 30-way adjustability, massage and additional lumbar support while second-row seats recline and slide forward for easy access to the third row providing ample seating with room left over for cargo. Efficient under-floor battery packaging in the Grand Touring edition does not compromise luggage space or legroom. Mileage and pricing will be announced closer to this summer’s on-sale date.
