2015 Ram 1500 Rebel Review
The storied Ram Power Wagon now has a little brother. The new 2015 Ram 1500 Rebel brings an off-road style package to the brand’s half-ton truck. An exclusive “RAM” grille, a black off-road front bumper, billet silver skid plate, front tow hooks and LED fog lamps announce the Rebel’s arrival while black Power Wagon wheel-arches, a two-tone paint scheme, special 17” wheels, and a “RAM” stamped tailgate create a distinctive trail-ready presence. But the Rebel also walks the walk with a 1” boost in ride height, Bilstein shocks, a specific steering calibration, new Toyo 33” all-terrain tires, and air springs. Ground clearance is hoisted to over 10” and a new stability program calibration factors in the 1500’s modifications. All Rebels are configured as crew cabs with a 5’7” bed and can be powered by either the 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 making 305 horsepower with fuel economy of 17mpg city/25mpg highway or the iconic 5.7-liter HEMI V8 raising the ante to 395 horsepower and 410 pound-feet of torque. An 8-speed auto is standard while shoppers can choose between 4X2 or 4X4 drivetrains. Inside, the Rebel features a brawny and rugged design with vinyl seats embossed with the Toyo’s tire tread pattern.
